What to Bring

The Veterans' Retreat is a community-run space managed by veteran volunteers — not a commercial Airbnb. We ask all guests to arrive self-sufficient and self-contained so the space stays ready for everyone who follows.

Please bring the following as a minimum, along with your food and drinks:

  • Bedding — pillows, sheets and blankets

  • Towels and tea towels

  • Fire lighters, kindling and matches

  • Bin liners

  • Toilet paper

  • Dishwashing detergent

Please note: there are no laundry facilities at the Retreat.

Some items may occasionally be available on-site, but please do not rely on this.

Surrounding adventures

The Central Highlands puts some of Tasmania's best experiences right on your doorstep.

  • Excellent trout fishing at Lake Sorell and Lake Crescent

  • Golf courses, cafes, pubs and supermarkets in Oatlands and Bothwell

  • Safe, quiet streets for kids on bikes

  • Scenic drives through the Central Highlands

  • Stargazing — some of the darkest skies in Tasmania
